DM-101 System Program ( Ver.1.03 )


HOW TO TELL THE VERSION
Please check the version of the system working on your DM-101 before downloading the archive file.
  1. Hold down the [MEMORY] button on the panel and connect the AC adaptor.
    The power comes on, and the MEMORY indicator shows the version.
    When the MANUAL and MEMORY 4 indicators light up, the version is 1.01. Carry out this update.
    When the MANUAL and MEMORY 3 indicators light up, the version is 1.02. Carry out this update.
    If the MANUAL and MEMORY 2 indicators light up, the version is the latest version (version 1.03), there's no need to update your DM-101.
  2. After verifying the version, switch off the power.

  • Fixed an issue in which the DELAY TIME was short only when VARIATION 4, 5, 9 was used in MULTI-HEAD mode during MIDI sync operation.

Bug Fixes
The following bugs have been fixed.
  • The issue with the delay sound sometimes not produced when changing the delay mode while MIDI sync is in use has been fixed.
  • The position of the [DELAY VOLUME] knob at which sound starts to be produced has been improved.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR DM-101
  • DM-101
  • Micro USB cable
    * Provide a cable suitable for connection to the computer you’re using.
  • A personal computer which can run the following SMF players (“UpdSMF”)
    • UpdSMF (SMF Player for Windows)
    • UpdSMF (SMF Player for macOS)
    • UpdSMF (SMF Player for macOS / OS X)
  • Computer (Windows or Mac) equipped with a USB port compliant with USB 2.0 or USB 3.0

CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the DM-101. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • Never power-off your DM-101 while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the DM-101 won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

GETTING THE UPDATE FILE
Please open/extract the downloaded “dm101_sys_v103.zip” file on your computer to get the “dm101_sys_v103” folder.
Please make sure you have unzipped the downloaded update file.

PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Caution
  • You must not rename the extracted file.
  • Never turn off the DM-101’s power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the DM-101 itself may be destroyed.
Please instal the extracted system program file into your DM-101 according to the following procedure.
  1. Connect the DM-101 to your computer using a USB cable.
  2. While holding down the [MEMORY] switch of the DM-101, connect the AC adaptor to the DC IN jack.
    The DM-101 powers up, and only the indicator of the [ON/OFF] switch lights up.
  3. On the computer, run “UpdSMF”.
  4. Set [MIDI Out Device] to the DM-101.
  5. Click [Path] (click [Select...] for Mac) on “UpdSMF” and specify the location where the update files from SMF Path (SMF Folder for Mac). Then, click the [OK] button.
  6. Click [Scan SMF] (unnecessary for Mac) to check that the update file is displayed in the file list.
  7. Click [Send].
    Sending of the update program starts.
    * It will take about 2 minutes to update. Be sure never to switch off the power before the operation finishes.

    When the DM-101 [ON/OFF] and [TAP] switch indicators light, the update has finished.
  8. Disconnect the AC adaptor to turn off the power.
  9. Please verify the version number “1.03” with the procedure described in “HOW TO TELL THE VERSION” part of this document.
    * If the update fails, redo the procedure from step 1.
